Guide to Keswick and Lake District Accommodation
Holiday accommodation in Keswick and the North Lakes
You will find accommodation in Keswick and the North Lakes area to suit all tastes and preferences. There is accommodation in Keswick itself for those who like the bustle and convenience of being close to all the amenities, shops, pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants. Outside of the town are the quieter lakeland villages and hamlets, each with their individual charm and attraction, country pubs, country hotels and accomodation of all varieties.
With such a wide choice of accommodation and location it can be difficult
for the first time visitor to decide where to stay. The most common concern
about accommodation is of the quality.
Most accommodation providers in the Northern Lake District are members of organisations such as Cumbria Tourism (previously the Cumbria Tourist Board) or the Keswick Tourism Association, and have their properties inspected annually by qualified representatives of VisitBritain, the AA or RAC, which helps to ensure the high standards of accommodation for which their owners are justly proud. Where the accommodation has been visited and approved by an inspector from the AA, RAC or English Tourism Council a quality grading will have been awarded. Self catering properties, B&Bs, guest houses and hotels are graded using a star system (from 1 to 5 stars). There are additional awards given to those who excel in certain areas, such as Silver or Gold Awards for excellence in accommodation and hospitality, or Red Rosettes for excellent cuisine. There is a full description of the gradings here.
